An early 19th century colonial-style bungalow, built in 1860, the Hardwicke House is famed for it’s illustrious history and share of prominent residents throughout the years. One and a half century later, the architectural heritage of this quaint colonial building continues to be carefully preserved and it remains as one of the more beloved heritage landmarks in Penang.
Today, the aesthetic value of the building is undeniable as it stands out in contrast to the modern skyscrapers that surround it. Refurbished to its former glory, the building now houses several food and beverage outlets; namely Vintage Cellars, Harvey’s Café and Mr. Ho’s fine foods.
The diversity of the food and beverage outlets available here enables anyone to enjoy a wide spread of food and drinks while appreciating the splendour and picturesque charm of the Hardwicke House.
Vintage boasts of the largest and finest wine cellars in the country with a wide array of imported wines from the flourishing vineyards of famed wine countries such as Chile, France, Italy, Australia and New Zealand. Patrons should be able to casually set into the inviting ambience of enjoying its fine wines and continue into the night with some excellent and refined cigars.
For those who love to entertain with more privacy, arrangements can be made to book their colonial corner. For those who are more down to earth, there is the open-air Beer Garden, which serves both local and imported German beers.
